GemStreet USA Show & Sale

The GemStreet USA Show & Sale makes a stop for the first time in Dayton, featuring a plethora of fine gems, jewelry, beads, crystals, minerals and fossils to the Hara Complex December 5-7.

“For years, we’ve had requests from Ohio and Indiana residents to bring our show and sale to the Dayton area,” says GemStreet organizer Jane Strieter-Smith. “We produce shows all over the Midwest, including Cincinnati, Cleveland and Buffalo, and are excited to be in Dayton just in time for the holiday shopping season.”

“Our boutique show offers specialty items ideal for gifting that you won’t find at local stores,” says Gail Strieter of The Soaring Crystal, one of the exhibitors. “These one-of-a-kind finds come from all corners of the globe—clay beads from Africa to meteorites from Argentina and amethyst from Brazil.”

Exhibitors, gemologists and artists will showcase everything from intricate lampwork bead bracelets, chocolate diamond necklaces, and strands of pearls to petrified wood, blue lace quartz crystal, metaphysical items, and witch’s spheres that can be used as holiday ornaments and then displayed year-round hung in a window so the light illuminates the design.

One of the featured exhibitors is Tamie Simpson of Small and Beautiful Beads in Michigan, who has a varied selection of hand-made Kazuri beads. These unique clay beads shine with a kaleidoscope of African colors and Kenyan art that reflects its culture. Small and Beautiful Beads also carries Swazi handmade beads and buttons, as well as Samunnat handcrafted polymer clay beads from Nepal. “This winter, I am featuring jewelry that appeals to polar opposites—big and bold pieces and simple, modern minimalism,” says Tamie. “It may be a leather bracelet with one Kazuri bead or lots of bold colored beads grouped together for a chunky statement necklace.”

In addition to finished jewelry on display, those who make their own jewelry will find a great selection of beads, supplies and tools at GemStreet USA. Plus, a host of fossils and minerals will appeal to both novice and serious collectors with items ranging from a rare black amethyst mineral specimen to petrified wood to sharks teeth.

Show hours are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $6 general admission and free for children under 12. The ticket is good all weekend and parking is free. The Dayton Hara Complex is located at 1001 Shiloh Springs Road, Dayton, 45415. For more information, contact organizer Jane Strieter-Smith at 216-521-4367 or www.gemstreetusa.com.
