Best of Broadway with the Stars of the Human Race Theatre Company

As a rule, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance promotes music, dance, and opera. But this May, it takes on the mission of promoting another of the performing arts, one that has always been a mainstay of the Dayton arts scene—the theater. Consider this: opera involves both music and acting, as does ballet to a certain degree, and theater often involves music. Why, then, have the DPO and local theater groups never gotten together to celebrate both art forms? (Yes, this is a loaded question.)

This May the Dayton Philharmonic and the Human Race Theatre Company will do just that, combining works of the Golden Age of Broadway with selections from modern Broadway. The Artistic Directors of the DPO and HRTC—Neal Gittleman and Kevin Moore, respectively—bring their different sensibilities together in a collaboration designed to bring out gems from both genres and produce two spectacularly enjoyable evenings.

It’s Broadway’s best, performed by Dayton’s best. And you had best be there!
