The Dayton Dragons 2014 season included the organization's 1,000th consecutive sell-out and many memorable Dragons performances at Fifth Third Field. Here are 10 games to remember.

The Dayton Dragons 2014 season included the organization’s 1,000th consecutive sell-out and many memorable Dragons performances at Fifth Third Field.  Here are 10 games to remember with links to the game story for each game.

April 14:  Keyed by a nine-run second inning, the Dragons roar out to an 11-0 lead after just two innings vs. Clinton and go on to win 13-5.  All nine Dragons batters have at least one hit by the end of the second inning.  It was the Dragons fifth straight win.  Game Story    

April 16:  The Dragons tie the game with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and then win it in the 11th to beat Clinton 3-2 and earn their seventh straight win. A sacrifice fly by Sebastian Elizalde brought in Jeff Gelalich from third with the winning run and a walk-off victory.  Game Story

April 18-19:  The Dragons shutout eventual league champion Kane County 9-0 in the middle game of a three-game series, then earn the series win the next night with a 3-2 win.  Joe Hudson’s bottom-of-the-ninth triple brought in Tanner Rahier with the winning run and raised the Dragons record to 11-4.  It was the only series meeting of the year between the Dragons and Cougars.  April 18 Game Story  April 19 Game Story    

May 1:  Reds flame-thrower Aroldis Chapman pitches for the Dragons on an injury rehabilitation assignment and sets a Fifth Third Field record with a 101 mph fastball aginst Lansing.  Game Story   

May 12:  Jeff Gelalich belts a seventh inning grand slam home run to bring the Dragons back from a 3-2 deficit on the way to a 6-3 win over South Bend.  Game Story

June 11:  The Dragons sweep a doubleheader from Bowling Green.  Dayton’s Amir Garrett fires a three-hit shutout in game one for the win.  He would throw another complete game shutout in August at LakeCounty.  Game Story

June 15:  The Dragons close out the first half with an 11-inning walk-off win.  Jon Matthews’ RBI single brings in Daniel Pigott from second to end it.  Game Story

July 28:  Dragons pitcher Sal Romano strikes out 10 batters in just five innings as Dayton beats Cedar Rapids 3-2.  Game Story

August 16:  The Dragons score two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to come from behind and defeat Bowling Green, 6-5.  A two-out RBI hit by Alex Blandino is the game-winner.  Game Story

August 17:  Reds all-star second baseman Brandon Phillips plays for the Dragons on a Major League injury rehab assignment against Bowling Green.  Game Story
