Ohio Galaxies FC Thanksgiving College Soccer Showcase
The Inaugural Ohio Galaxies Thanksgiving Showcase is the weekend of November 27 through November 29th.
Xenia, Ohio. Ohio Galaxies Thanksgiving Showcase at Athletes in Action! This inaugural event brings Men's and Women's soccer together for the first time at Athletes in Action, Xenia, Ohio. In the past, the Galaxies have had separate weekends for Men and Women's soccer. This year, in an attempt to encourage more colleges and coaches to come see local area soccer players compete at the highest level, OGFC members have brought the events to just one 3 day event. Each team competing will play 1 game each day over the 3 day weekend. There are over 60 teams playing the days after Thanksgiving from states as far away as West Virginia. Many college coaches will be able to see potential college candidates compete in this College Showcase Tournament. Colleges and coaches are represented from states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Ohio. Coaches are anticipating exciting soccer competition. The Showcase tournament is designed to give a quality experience to college coaches so that they can have a good "look" at potential local area college candidates. Competition will be at the highest level offering an exciting experience for players, coaches and spectators alike.
The OGFC Showcases, both Thanksgiving and Spring, will bring in an estimated total of 2.8 million dollars to local area businesses in lodging, retail, transportation as well as business services and food and beverage. It is believed that the Thanksgiving Showcase will contribute approximately $1million to the area economy this fall. OGFC President, Nancy Shields believes "area businesses will see a substantial boost this upcoming fall and spring because of the Showcase, making the tournaments important events for the area".
