You may have heard that Splash Moraine and the Beach Waterpark are both closed this summer. What you might not know is that there are two new waterparks in the Dayton area for 2012. So with temperatures now rising into the 90s and the official start of pool season upon us, where can you make a splash this summer? Grab your beach towel and sun screen, Dayton Local has pulled together a list of 7 Dayton-area waterparks to help you keep your cool.

This Memorial Day weekend marks the grand opening of the Kroger Aquatic Center in Huber Heights. A $6 million dollar oasis on Route 201, sitting on 14.3 acres of ground just north of the Greater Dayton YMCA.
Be the first to try out the new water slides, the giant leisure pool, sprayground or just relax on the lazy river. There is also a separate wading pool for infants and toddlers. This new waterpark for the Dayton area is sure to make a splash this summer!
The complex also features concession stands, an amphitheatre, tennis courts, dog park, trails and picnic shelters, all operated by the YMCA. All-inclusive birthday packages are also available.

With a major renovation just last year, there are more reasons than ever to return to this local favorite at the Kettering Recreation Complex.
The Adventure Reef Water Park (formerly Water Raves') features many exciting spaces offering fun for all ages - including a leisure pool with large water playground, the highest and fastest slides in Montgomery County, two water slides with their own splash pool and an interactive splash pad. Those of you with babies and toddlers under 5 years will especially appreciate the gated kids pool with the smaller slide and water features.
With plenty of sun-bathing space and a reasonably priced concession stand and patio, Adventure Reef is a perfect escape for families this summer.
Note: Monday through Saturday, Kettering residents and pass holders are permitted to enter the Adventure Reef Water Park at noon. The Adventure Reef Water Park features will open from 12:15-12:30 pm for the residents and pass holders to enjoy. Non-residents will be admitted at 12:30 pm. On Sundays, the park will be open to residents and pass holders only. Residents can bring a guest or guests with them on Sundays. Those guests will be charged the current non-resident rate.

Kings Island has both the Largest Amusement and Waterpark in the Midwest. This year they’re opening Soak City - their revamped waterpark, (formerly Boomerang Bay), which they’ve expanded to more than double in size, and just in time with the closing of the neighboring Beach Waterpark.
The all-new Soak City opens in May with a giant new wave pool, action river and amenities designed with the entire family in mind.

Springfield, Ohio is home to this 10-acre, Family Aquatic Center, which includes over 400 feet of water slides, a 280-foot lazy river water vortex, a sprayground for the little ones, a 25-yard competition pool, two one-meter diving boards, zero depth beach with a heated entry and Ohio’s first bowl slide.
In addition, this public facility, owned and operated by the National Trail Parks & Recreation District, offers programs for residents to improve health and wellness. These programs include aqua aerobics, lap swimming, resistance water walking, tiny tot spraygound time, swim lessons, and more.

Part of yet another great recreation complex, the Vandalia Recreation Center’s indoor aquatic center includes a zero-depth entry, a leisure pool with interactive water features for all ages, and a twisting water slide.
There’s also the vortex and bubble bench for those with fitness or therapeutic needs. Lap lanes provide an additional area for many of the center’s programs, as well as recreational and lap swimming.
Open year round, the Vandalia Recreation center offers several birthday packages as well, including the Aquatic Center.

Another popular area pool attraction can be found in Troy. The list of amenities at the Troy Aquatic Park includes two giant water slides, drop slide, diving board, heated baby pool, interactive water play equipment in zero depth area, zero depth entrance, and giant shade structures.
Daily admission rates are available alongside season passes. Benefits to season pass holders include Pass Member swim only on Sunday evenings 5:00p.m. - 7:00 p.m.; discounted rates on swim lessons, water aerobics, and swim team; and unlimited in and out privileges. Private Party Rentals are available on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
